Sayang Sembawang June 2016

The first half of 2016 has been nothing short of eventful for our community.

You will notice that there has been a new change in the newsletter – we have officially changed our name to “Sayang Sembawang”. This is in line with the community campaign, which you may have seen at MRT stations or coffee shops in Sembawang GRC from last year. It is our hope that all of us can come together and love our neighbourhood and community – to ‘Sayang Sembawang’ together. Whenever you see something that you love about Sembawang, why not share it with us, using the hashtag #sayangsembawang?

That’s not the only change either. Sembawang Town Council has moved to new premises since 9 May 2016 (Page 3) to better serve all residents. Do take note of our new address, as well as other important contact details. There are also exciting new developmentstaking place in Sembawang GRC – the North South Corridor, the new Canberra MRT station and the temporary bus interchange at Woodlands (Pages 4-5), to name a few!

Meanwhile, this issue of Sayang Sembawang is full of celebration and festivity. Read on for more details about events like the Lunar New Year celebrations (Pages 6 - 7) and the return of the highly anticipated Chingay @ North 2016 (Pages 8 - 9). Together, we also remembered Mr Lee Kuan Yew on the first anniversary of his passing (Page 10) and built deeper bonds together at Canberra Day 2016 (Page 11).

We have a strong and dynamic community growing here in Sembawang GRC. Let’s continue to sayang our home, sayang our Sembawang together.
